• • • • Founded in 1880, Matteograssi is one of the world’s oldest companies known for quality leatherworking. The company is introducing its new and reinvented collections at the Salone del Mobile during this year’s Milan Design Week. Matteograssi has revived some of its traditional designs using modern technologies and tastes. It has used leather and hides with other materials such as wood and microfiber to create a collection suitable for both home and corporate settings.
The collections on display include Stefano Grassi’s leather in two modulated interpretations – Sir and Lady. This collection uses traditional leather-working techniques with a modern twist of scented leather.
Grassi has also designed Biblo, a steel and leather combination bookcase. It was originally designed to display furnishing for the company stand at the Salone last year, but owing to an overwhelming reception it was launched as part of the 2014 collection. Another new collection to be displayed this year is Stefano Bigi’s Cruise. It combines the warmth of wood and the sensuality of Matteograssi’s leather. The company has joined hands with Pierantonio Bonacina to launch a new project – RelaxInDesign – where the new range of armchairs are placed at various locations within the city to encourage people to sit down, relax and savour Milan’s true beauty.
The two companies have been chosen by Well-Tech for the WT Award 2014 at Palazzo Isimbardi. Now in its 14th edition, the WT Award is a prize for technological innovation. It is awarded to an international product or project for technological innovation, sustainable values, accessibility and contribution to a better quality of life.
